Pharmacy Technician - Part-time

Description: West Valley Medical Center is currently interviewing Pharmacy Technician - Part-time right now, this occupation will be reside in Idaho. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs technical and administrative duties associated with the practice of pharmacy. Position tasks and responsibilities include:Receives, fills, and delivers medication prescriptions to nursing stations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.Processes interdepartmental medication supply orders under the supervision of a pharmacist.Ensures patient pharmacy charges are properly applied correctly.Prepares and delivers intravenous admixtures under supervision of pharmacist.Performs clerical functions not restricted to a pharmacist.Inspects medication storage areas as assigned.Assists in ordering, stocking and pre-packaging sufficient inventory levels of medications.Maintains Accudose machine inventory daily.Incorporates age-specific factors in the performance of duties. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate drug dosages for all age groups under the direction of a pharmacist.Demonstrates awareness of and competence in patient safety, including medical/healthcare error reporting, and medication safety: look-alike/sound-alike drugs, safe storage and monitoring of use of narcotics, separate storage of Heparin and Insulin, safe storage of paralytic agents, no KCI stored outside pharmacy, double check system for IV admixtures, chemotherapy double check system, stocking and quality control for Accudose.Status: Part-Time (.5 FTE)Schedule: 10-hour shifts scheduled varying days of the week. High School diploma or GED required.Current certification as a Pharmacy Tech preferred.Previous pharmacy tech experience in a hospital setting preferred.Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
